Héda Rose was born in Brooklyn New York of Jamaican parentage; she entered the music business as a youth in 1993 performing in a musical theatre production, of “The Reluctant Dragon” at The Kennedy Center For Performing Arts. The production lasted for 7 months with an extended period of 10 shows.

She joined the R&B Girls Billboard Charted Group “Pure Soul”. They recorded and performed for over a period of 2 years. The group made appearances on Good Morning America, Soul Train, BET and VHI. They were well received by the American music fraternity and fans alike.

Héda participated in the 75th Anniversary Celebration for legendary singer Tony Bennett at the Metropolitan Museum; whose guest list included Harry Belafonte, Robert Dinero, Billy Joel and many other celebrity actors and recording artistes. This appearance landed her another vocal performance of the National Anthem at the New York Mets & the DC Nationals Game at the National Stadium.

Héda entered the NBC’s America’s Got Talent competition, performing at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City before celebrity judges Sharon Osbourne, David Hasselhoff, Piers Morgan and former host Nick Cannon. She placed in the semi-finals of the competition, and went on with a zest for perfecting her craft.

Rose has continued to develop her artistic practice through various activities, this includes Music Composition, Music Video Production, Documentary Film Production and other creative elements added to her repertoire.

Having a Jamaican heritage, Reggae Music kept calling, so Héda Rose entered the Reggae Industry in 2012, working with Reggae legend Sly Dunbar of the Sly & Robbie Fame. She also did recordings with Errol “Flabba” Holt, another iconic musician and the late Lincoln “Style” Scott of the legendary Roots Radics Band.

Due to her strong commitment to Activism, Héda became involved with community activities and was appointed Outreach Director for the 5th; time elected Mayor Walter Lee James of Bladensburg, MD and was assigned to assist with MD State Senate Campaign.

Héda was chosen to join Maxine Jones and Dawn Robinson of En Vogue for four live performances at Blues Alley in Washington DC. During this period she was appointed a voting member of the Recording Academy Grammy Association.

Pursuing other areas of her artistic and creative endeavours, Héda entered her paintings at various galleries, including Gateway Open Studios Exhibit in 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017. December 2016 saw her doing a Holiday Art Exhibit at the Gallery Myrtis.

Her artwork and Poetry was also featured in the Reflections Literary Arts Magazine in 2016 and 2017.

2017 was a good year for Héda, she was recognized as the art cover winner of Reflections Literary Arts Magazine and she produced the Eternal Liberty Documentary Film.

This multifaceted creative bag of energy decided to hit the stage as a Standup Comedian in 2018. She did multiple performances at the Art of Comedy show at the Motor House in Baltimore, MD; and performed at the Laughing Scull Comedy Lounge in Atlanta Georgia. She also joined the 2019 tour and performed at the Bar Lubitsch, in West Hollywood for Comedy Stew.

Activism called again and Héda was caught up in Research & Development for the Change Project earlier this year. Recently she was asked to express her opinions on radio doing music interviews on Rock Dem Radio Show104.5FM, WVIP 93.5FM and WHCR 90.3FM.

Héda continues to explore and expand her creative and artistic talents through various forms of creative activities, whether it is music composition, video production, film production, drawing & painting, poetry, performances in music or standup comedy, Héda Rose will capture the attention and interest of all she encounters on this adventure of her creative enlightenment.

As a youth, Héda Rose endured much abuse and trauma as well as inequality through sexism and racism, which she triumphantly overcomes through the application of interdisciplinary art practices, and enables her to focus on her many talents and blessings. Always in search of her higher self, she is determined to turn her pain into purpose and be an inspiration to others utilizing all the gifts she has been given.

Héda Rose continues her journey towards betterment of self and those she encounters. She is embracing the beauty of her existence, freeing herself from mental slavery, she understands that – “None but ourselves can free our minds”, and living the idea that “The ends you serve that are selfish will take you no further than yourself, but the ends you serve that are for all in common, will take you into eternity”. Héda understands perfectly that “Just because you are happy does not mean that the day is perfect, but that you have overlooked its imperfections”. (Bob Marley) Perfection is her goal and it is because we are already perfect, made in the image and likeness of the creator, “No one can make you feel inferior without your consent”. When asked what is her purpose? Héda chooses to embrace all life’s challenges and offers yet another quote, “The purpose of life is to live it, to taste, experience to the utmost, to reach out eagerly and without fear for newer and richer experience” (Eleanor Roosevelt)
